Aly Eltayb

Aly Eltayeb is the co-founder and CEO of Shift EV, an electric mobility startup based in Cairo, focused on electrifying fleets in emerging markets through manufacturing grade and speed retrofitting with lego packs the company designs and manufactures. The company's technology is currently deployed with leading last mile logistics fleets, under a battery as a service subscription model. Shift EV is led by an MIT / Intel / GM and backed by Union Square Ventures and other global venture investors. 

Prior to Shift EV, Aly led the business development and analytics team at Form Energy, a long duration storage startup based in Boston, USA that has raised
$800mn in financing. Aly joined as the 8th employee where he led the company's market discovery, and the development of a grid optimization analytics platform to engage customers on big battery projects. Aly led the contracting of a first-of-a-kind grid scale long duration power project with a US utility, and the development of a multi GWh global pipeline of projects. Before Form Energy, Aly was an early stage innovation manager at Corning, a Fortune 500 in the material science space, where he was responsible for the assessment of
investment opportunities in automotive and consumer electronics. 

 Prior to that, Aly developed a novel electrochemical carbon capture technology at MIT raising $1.65mn of non-dilutive funding to support R&D for commercialization. Aly holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and MBA in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Cairo University graduate.

Amr Emad

Zohair has been appointed Director of Foreign Investment

Promotion dept. at GAFI, and his role is to promote and facilitate FDI inflow
into Egypt from all over the world through Planning regional and sectoral

He is an engineer and trained by Mazda Japan. He holds many
training courses in the field of Mazda car maintenance. He was born and raised
in Syria, Aleppo Governorate, and began his professional life with his father,
the owner of a Mazda dealership in the northern region, arriving in Egypt in
2012, and he started here with the same strategy, as he was keen on. He taught
many cadres trained in maintenance, including (mechanics, electricity,
painting, and Denting). With the beginning of the introduction of electric
cars, he was one of the first to work on them, and trained a special work team
to maintain electric cars in charge of (programming, battery maintenance,
charger maintenance)

Gamal Askar


 

Eng. Gamal Askr is a dedicated professional with a wealth of experience
in the automotive industry. With a career spanning multiple roles, he brings
expertise in various aspects of business management, customer relations, and
industry innovation.

His journey has been marked by remarkable achievements, from his current role as Chairman & Managing Director at Al Mohandas National
Automotive Company since October 2020, where he leads with strategic vision and
fosters growth, to his tenure as After Sales Director at Subaru from April 2017 to August 2020, where he displayed exceptional leadership in enhancing customer
experiences.

From February 2013 to January 2017, as After Sales Director at Al Jedaie Group KSA, Gamal showcased his strong negotiation skills,
particularly in contracts with multinational firms. His responsibilities encompassed a range of tasks across the automotive landscape, including
service, spare parts, quality, and customer complaints handling. This was a
testament to his holistic approach to industry challenges.

Throughout his career, Gamal has exhibited a dynamic approach to management, including roles such as After Sales Director for Skoda

& Seat in Doha, Qatar (January 2010 to December 2012), After Sales Manager for SKODA Egypt (August 2005 to December 2009), and more. His ability to manage operations, training programs, and quality control measures has consistently
led to enhanced service quality.

Gamal's academic background includes a Bachelors's degree in
Automotive Engineering from Helwan University, Cairo. He has further honed his
skills through an array of technical and management courses, totaling over 25
training sessions, including those conducted by Mercedes Benz, Daewoo, and

Eng.Hicham Arafa brings 29 years of Engineering Management experience, where he has led and contributed to the building of many leading technology companies in Egypt. Hicham Has been the Chief Operations Officer and Partner for Brightskies since the year 2017, where he has successfully steered the growth of the company from 40 engineers to 400+ engineers in 2023.

Prior to joining Brightskies, Arafa was the R&D director and Deputy General Manager for Valeo Egypt, where he spent 6 years growing
Valeo’s engineering capacity and making it the biggest software development center in Egypt and in the region, employing more than 2000 Engineers and serving all of Valeo’s Business Groups under one roof.

Prior to his role at Valeo, Arafa worked with Intel
Corporation as the Business Development Manager for Egypt, Levant and North Africa, where he opened multiple offices for Intel in Algeria, Morocco and Libya. Prior to that Hicham served as the Strategic Initiatives Manager for Intel’s Platform Definition Center based in Cairo, which was one of the four unique technical centers that Intel opened worldwide to define, plan and develop specific products for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region.

Arafa started off his career at Intel in the USA in 1999, where he held numerous positions including Validation Architect at the Enterprise Server Group, the Embedded Intel Architecture Division, when he
finally returned to Egypt in 2003 to work for the Sales and Marketing Group.

Hicham is a Boad Member in several industry development companies and organizations, and is playing an active role to bridge the gap
between the Automotive and the ICT industries in Egypt.

 He is a member of the Board Of Directors of Silicon Waha since 2019, a Board Member of EiTESAL NGO
since 2022 and a Board Member in the Egyptian Environment-Friendly Automotive Industry Development Fund since 2023.
